Amrita Patel gets environ award

Anand, June 4 The President, Ms Pratibha Patil, conferred on Dr Amrita Patel, Founder Chairperson of the Foundation for Ecological security (FES), Anand, the Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar on the World Environment Day today, at New Delhi.
Receiving the award, Dr Patel, who is also the Chairperson of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), said it reinforced and recognised the efforts made by the Foundation in putting in place the process of coordinated human effort and governance towards the conservation of land and water resources, FES sources said here.
The Foundation has already helped upgrade 85,800 hectares and would work on another 75,000 hectares in the next five years. The Indira Gandhi Paryavaran Puraskar is the highest award conferred by the Government of India on individuals in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the conservation of nature and natural resources. The award recognises Dr Patel’s service in the conservation of nature and natural resources which is less known outside conservation circles.
