Foreign Direct Investment Opinions sought on FDI in retail New Delhi, June 6 A Parliamentary panel, headed by BJP leader Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, has sought opinion from traders and public on the entry of multinationals in the organised retail space. The Committee has already heard some oral evidence and has also undertaken on-the-spot study visits to some places. It has also sought inputs from a wider cross section of stakeholders and the public at large, an official release said here today. The Government sponsored study on conducted by ICRIER had concluded last month that encouraging the organised retail would help farmers as well as consumers without having adverse impact on small traders. The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion has since sought views of the State Governments on the ICRIER report. The views and suggestion to the Committee may be send at: watts@sansad.nic.in. – Our Bureau
