Top bank officials visit rural branches

Kolkata, June 7

Senior executives of two Kolkata-based banks — Allahabad Bank and United Bank of India — have started visiting rural branches as a step towards the implementation of the agricultural debt waiver and debt relief scheme. Mr A.C. Mahajan, CMD, Allahabad Bank, paid a visit to a couple of branches in Uttar Pradesh and urged the branch managers to prepare the list of eligible borrowers as early as possible. “The success of the scheme lies in the preparation of the list properly,” Mr Mahajan observed. Mr P.K. Gupta, CMD, United Bank, visited the bank’s branches at Amtala and Pailan, in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, and directed the officers to prepare the borrowers’ list and display it at the respective branch by June 20. Mr J.P. Dua, Executive Director, Allahabad Bank, and Mr T.M. Bhasin, ED, United Bank also visited several rural branches.
