Cabs resume services

Hyderabad, June 7

The Great Hyderabad Cabs and Bus Operators' Association has decided to resume services with immediate effect, following the success of talks with the Government late in the evening. Over 30,000 taxis and private buses went off road on Friday protesting against the Government decision to collect VAT dues from the cab operators with retrospective effect from 2003. "The Government has agreed withdraw the notices, demanding VAT. Mr Konathala Ramakrishna, Minister for Commercial Taxes, told us that the Government would form a committee to study the issue," Mr M.K.
