Cognizant buys US co Strategic Vision

Our Bureau

Pune, June 9 Cognizant Techology Solutions on Monday said that it has acquired Strategic Vision Consulting, Inc (SVC), a management and technology consulting firm with over 60 employees serving the media and entertainment industry.

Cognizant did not disclose the sum paid for the acquisition or the other terms of the transaction. Cognizant is also not revising the guidance it had given for the year since there is no significant impact. Mr R. Chandrasekharan, President and Managing Director, Cognizant, said: “This is a strategic investment that we expect would generate down-stream revenue. The direct revenue was not included in our guidance — but the amount is immaterial to our overall results.”

SVC, based in Los Angeles in the US, focuses on consulting and systems implementation for media and entertainment companies, including studios, broadcasters, post-production facilities and interactive media companies. In addition, SVC provides technology strategy and planning, and program and project management services. Its areas of focus span Media Asset Management, Artists Payments, and Anti-Piracy among others.

Expanding capabilities

Mr Fransciso D’Souza, President and Chief Executive Officer, Cognizant, said that it would expand its consulting capabilities in the media and entertainment industry.

This is Cognizant’s ninth acquisition in recent times.
