Our Bureau

Hyderabad, June 9 The Department of Information Technology (DIT) has chosen the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-Dac) to serve as a nodal agency to help create content and training for awareness on information security for the common man.

About 5 resource centres and 34 participating institutions would serve as implementation partners for the content developed by C-Dac, Hyderabad centre, according to Dr N. Sharat Chandra Babu, Director, C-Dac. The initiative is aimed at helping the common man not technologically savvy about its implications, Mr G.V. Raghunathan, Senior Director and Head of HRD Division, DIT, said, speaking at an information security workshop here.

Most of the citizen services are being offered over the Internet. While those comfortable with the use of computers are aware about security aspects and its implications, this training is aimed at helping children, women and even small and medium-sized businesses, he said.
