Strategy Aran Kitchen to bring in branded modular kitchens Bindu D. Menon New Delhi, June 9 Kitchens are the latest to be bitten by the annual maintenance contract (AMC) bug. Aran Kitchen World India will offer AMC on modular kitchen to convert people from branded to the unbranded. With the Italian company Aran World picking up 49 per cent stake in the Kitchen World India, the company is looking to bring in the latest in the modular kitchen business in India. Kitchen World India has been Aran’s channel partner in India for several years and has nine stores across the country. “Our mission is to design kitchens that stand the test of time and improve the quality of life. Aimed at converting consumers from branded to unbranded, we are offering value additions like AMCs. “The services will include cleaning of kitchens, besides the regular maintenance of various parts,” Mr Rajesh Bohra, Chairman and Managing Director, Aran Kitchen World told Business Line. The amount for the annual maintenance can vary from Rs 3,500 to Rs 18,000 a year depending on the size of the kitchen. He said the joint venture company Aran Kitchen World will offer four visits as a part of the contract. Expansion plansTo expand its retail presence in the country, the company is planning to add 30 new stores by 2010. “Each store envisages an investment of Rs 50 lakh. We hope to fund through internal accruals and borrowings.” Chennai facility The company will also set up a manufacturing facility near Chennai. “We are scouting for land near Chennai to house the facility. The manufacturing facility will be set up with an investment of Rs 30 crore. The Italian company will bring in the technological know-how,” Mr Bohra added.
