Loan waiver: KVGB set to complete the process

Mangalore, June 9 The Dharwad-headquartered Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB), which has initiated the process of loan waiver and debt relief scheme, hopes to complete the process of crediting the eligible amount to the eligible borrowers’ account by June 15.

Quoting Mr M. Dhananjaya, Chairman of the bank, a press release said here on Monday that though the cut-off date for crediting eligible amount to the eligible borrowers’ account is stipulated as June 30 according to the scheme, the bank aims to complete the process by June 15.

The list of farmers eligible under the scheme would be displayed on the notice board of each branch. Under the scheme, 2.07 lakh farmers would be eligible for loan waiver. Of them, 1.41 lakh are small and marginal farmers.

Fresh loans

Fresh crop loans would be disbursed immediately to farmers covered under the loan waiver and debt relief scheme, he said.

For effective and correct implementation of the scheme, a workshop was held at the head office of the bank June 8 for the senior officers of the eight regional offices of the bank. In the first phase, 98 branch managers were provided with details of the scheme. In the second phase, senior officers from the eight regional offices were provided with the information. They will disseminate information to the remaining 309 branches, the release added.

The bank, which has 407 branches, operates in nine districts of Karnataka. The regional rural bank is sponsored by Syndicate Bank.
