Mylan, Natco tie up to market drug
Hyderabad, June 10
Natco Pharma Ltd tied up with Pittsburgh-based
Mylan Inc for worldwide marketing and
distribution of its glatiramer acetate pre-filled syringes
used to treat multiple sclerosis. Glatiramer acetate is a
generic version of Teva Pharmaceuticals' CopaxoneR.
According to a license and supply agreement signed by
the Hyderabad-based company and Mylan, the latter
acquired exclusive distribution rights for the drug in the
US and all major markets in Europe, Australia, New
Zealand, Japan and Canada including an option to
expand into additional markets. "We believe that no
company is better positioned than Mylan to help us
unlock the extraordinary value of this product in the US
and around the world," Mr V.C. Nannapaneni, Chairman
and Managing Director, Natco Pharma said in a release.
