Aran Cucine sees potential in India

Bangalore, June 10

Aran Cucine, which announced a tie-up with Future Group’s Home Town last week, will set up a manufacturing unit near Chennai soon. Aran, which is Italy’s largest kitchen manufacturer, will bring Denovo brand of modular kitchens from Italy through all Home Town stores. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Rajesh Bohra, Chairman and Managing Director, Aran Kitchen World, said that the company may enter other segments like office furniture and wardrobe s in the country. Announcing the tie-up, Mr Mahesh Shah, CEO, Home Town, said that the Indian modular kitchen market is one of the fastest growing segments in home retailing. At Home Town, for instance, the kitchen segment grew 180 per cent last year. The company realised sales of around Rs 18 crore from kitchens last year and expects sales to touch Rs 50 crore this year, about half of which would be contributed by the Denovo brand, Mr Shah said. “There is a significant market for Italian kitchens in the country,” added Mr Shah. Denovo kitchens, priced between Rs 1.25 lakh and Rs 20 lakh , cost significantly lower than most other Italian brands which are priced about 200 per cent higher than Indian brands, Mr Shah said.
