Tea Offerings, prices higher at Coimbatore tea auction Our Bureau Coimbatore, June 10 The total offerings at the weekly auction held at the Tea Trade Association of Coimbatore on Friday was higher at 6.46 lakh kg, with leaf grades accounting for 2.23 lakh kg and the balance 4.23 lakh kg of tea dust. There was good demand for the Nilgiris high grown orthodox leaf. There were export enquiries for the larger teas and brokens. Fannings ruled firm to dearer. Internal demand was limited. Primary grades of orthodox dust sold at irregular levels following quality. But the volumes on offer were absorbed by the internal buyers and exporters. Demand goodThe demand was generally good for the CTC leaf grades. Best teas were quoting dearer by up to Rs 2, the medium and plainer bolder grades ruled steady and the bolder brokens met with some withdrawals. While exporters remained active, HUL, packeteers and internal buyers were selective. Good liquoring, bolder grades of CTC dust quoted dearer by up to Rs 2, the finer grades ruled firm to dearer and the medium and plainer bolder grades by Rs 2 to Rs 3 and at times more.
