Spot rubber prices recover partially

Kottayam, June 11 Spot rubber rates recovered partially on Wednesday. RSS 4 closed at Rs 128 against Rs 126 a kg mainly on covering purchases. The market made all-round gains though the transactions were in a low key.

A late recovery in trend setting Japanese markets and firm Bangkok rates helped the domestic market to finish firm after a weak opening.

Consumer buying

Major consuming sectors continued to stay back and the absence of genuine consumer-based buying kept the energy levels visibly low, sources said.

On TOCOM, the June contract bounced back to ¥341.5 (Rs 136.39) from ¥334.1, July to ¥340.9 (334), August to ¥341.5 (335.2), September to ¥340.6 (334.6), October to ¥342.1 (334.4) and November to ¥343.7 (336.5) a kg for RSS 3. The grade firmed up to Rs 139.82 (138.49) a kg at Bangkok spot.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 128 (126); RSS-5: 125 (122); ungraded: 121 (119); ISNR 20: 122 (120) and latex 60 per cent: 85.50 (85).
