Our Bureau

New Delhi, June 11 The Community Service Centre (CSC) Project being rolled out under the national e-governance action plan could soon get an impetus, with National Spot Exchange of India Ltd (NSEIL) and Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Ltd (IL&FS) entering into a strategic alliance to enable farmers access spot prices of various farm produce at the CSCs.

NSEIL expects its spot exchange to go live in August this year. The Department of Information Technology hopes to roll out IT-enabled CSCs in one lakh villages of the country by June next year on a public private partnership. So far, 8,000 CSCs have been rolled out across the country. A CSC is basically a kiosk kind of infrastructure that would have one or two IT-trained people besides broadband and Internet connectivity.

IL&FS is the national level service agency appointed by the Ministry of Information Technology for project development, facilitation and coordination of the CSC project.

A memorandum of understanding was exchanged between the NSEIL Managing Director, Mr Anjani Sinha and Ms Aruna Sundararajan, CEO (Community Service Centre), ILFS, here today. Both sides have agreed to explore the possibility of developing synergies between National Spot Exchange and CSC project to provide better information on prices to farmers through an electronic trading platform.
