Strike in Guntur: Red chilli powder being packed at a small-scale curry powder unit at Ankamaly near Kochi in Kerala. Chilli futures gained on Thursday due to supply shortage in Guntur, the biggest spot market in India. Traders in Guntur have gone on indefinite strike from Monday demanding compensation for farmers and traders who incurred losses in the fire last month. Chilli was quoted at Rs 5,383 a quintal for August delivery. –
