Our Bureau

New Delhi, June 12 Hyundai Motor India Ltd said that sales of its newly-launched compact car i10 touched 1,06,749 units in the overseas markets.

The company said that it sold i10 in 98 countries in less than seven months of the launch. “We are delighted as we reach the fastest one lakh unit export mark for the i10.

Even in the domestic market the demand is very strong with sales of over 65,000 units and to meet the expectations of both the markets we are trying hard to produce as many i10’s as possible,” said Mr H. S. Lheem, Managing Director, HMIL in a statement.

As a part of its strategy to make India an export hub for compact cars, Hyundai Motors has raised production to 6 lakh units a annum. The company also plans to expand its dealer network to 300 from 230 outlets during the year.
