Nitte Education Trust (NET), which has been running several institutions, is planning to bring them under the Nitte University (a deemed university) by 2009.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, Mr N. Vinay Hegde, President of NET and Chancellor of the university, said that the establishment of Nitte University is only the latest in a series of milestones that have been reached over a 25-year-long period of sustained activity and growth achieved by NET.

The UGC granted deemed university status to A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (a constituent college of NET) in a notification dated June 4.
