Our Bureau

Hyderabad, June 16 In an effort to provide easy access to people, all Government Orders, gazette notifications of the Andhra Pradesh Government will henceforth be placed on the Internet simultaneously with their release.

This system is designed such that unless it is numbered on the Internet, a GO will not be released. The objective of this initiative is to bring about transparency and provide access to citizens, according to Mr Suresh Chanda, Secretary, Information Technology and Communication, Andhra Pradesh Government.

After beta test in IT&C department, it has now been extended to all the 30 departments operating out of the State Secretariat. Hitherto, once a GO was issued, it was sent to respective department, which would then upload it on to the Web. Now the process is simplified and automated and happens simultaneously, he said addressing a press conference.

With this, one can visit www.ap.gov.in/goir and access to all the GOs and gazette notifications without even having to register. While all the GOs from February 2008 will now be available, efforts are on to bring on old GOs also onto the system, he said.

Only orders that are confidential will not be available. But their numbers displayed on the Web Site.

Toll-free number

Alongside, the Government has provided for a facility to register grievances online. Those not having access to computers can call up 1100, a toll-free number, and register their complaint or problem through a call centre.

The entire process and status of an application of grievance addressed, through this ‘Citizen to Government’ initiative, would be accessible to people. This is part of the effort to bring about transparency, he said.
