Jain Energy, MP Govt sign pact

Kolkata, June 16

Kolkata-based Jain Energy Ltd has entered into an MoU with Madhya Pradesh for setting up a 1,000-MW coal-based power plant in Shadol district. According to a company press release, the project would require an estimated investment of Rs 5,000 crore. The company has previous entered to an MoU with the Chhattisgarh Government for setting up a similar project at Balpur of Janjgir, Champa district. According to the company, discussions are on with the governments of Orissa, Jh arkhand and West Bengal for setting up greenfield power projects. Expression of Interest is submitted for hydro power projects in Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan. —
