CII to host 2-day meet on financing options

Chennai, June 17 The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organising ‘The India Finance Forum (TIFF)’, a two-day conference focusing on recent trends and challenges in finance, at Chennai, on June 20-21. The theme of TIFF 2008 is “Aspiring for growth and managing risk”.

Mr L. Ganesh, Chairman, TIFF 2008, who is also the Chairman of Rane Group, said at a press conference here on Tuesday that around 250 people would attend the conference.

“Managing risk today is totally a new game and this is accentuated by periodical volatility in markets,” Mr Ganesh said, explaining how the theme of the conference is appropriate.

“TIFF 2008 would attempt to present the available financing options, the innovative capital structures and the ways to identify, manage and mitigate various kinds of risks,” he said.

Focus

Mr Ganesh said that the two-day conference would focus on topics such as Growth capital – the role of private equity and venture capital; emerging merger and acquisition trends; the impact of Indian companies going global, risk capital from the perspective of shareholders, legal and tax and derivatives with emphasis on forex, commodity and interest risk management.

There will also be a session on derivatives.

Mr T.T. Srinivasaraghavan, Co-chairman, TIFF 2008, and Managing Director, Sundaram Finance Ltd, said that the conference is meant mainly for the small and medium enterprises and as such, the effort would be to demystify some of the concepts in financing.

The key speakers include Mr S. Mahalingam, Chief Financial Officer, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd; Mr Suresh C. Senapaty, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Wipro Ltd; Mr Vijay Sankar, Deputy Chairman, The Sanmar Group; Mr Rajesh Khanna, Managing Director, Warburg Pincus India Ltd; Mr K. Srinivasan, Managing Director, Carborundum Universal Ltd; Prof. Pratap Giri Subrahmanyam, IIM-Bangalore, Mr A.V. Rajwade, Director, Rajwade & Co Ltd, and Mr Jayesh Desai, National Director, Ernst &Young.
