Power PowerGrid net up 17.8% in 2007-08 Our Bureau New Delhi, June 19 Transmission major Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) on Thursday reported a 17.82 per cent jump in audited net profit at Rs 1,448.47 crore for the fiscal ended March 31, 2008, against Rs 1,229.37 crore for the year 2006-07. The company’s total income increased 24 per cent to Rs 5,081.53 crore for 2007-08, up from Rs 4,097.15 crore in the previous year. Currently, PGCIL is operating around 68,000 circuit km of transmission lines along with 115 sub-stations with transformation capacity of more than 75,000 MVA. With the use of latest preventive maintenance techniques, average availability of transmission systems during the year 2007-08 was maintained at 99.65 per cent. PGCIL continues to wheel about 45 per cent of total power generated in the country through its transmission network. The PGCIL share dipped nearly 2 per cent on the BSE to close at Rs 89.10 a share on Thursday. More Stories on : Power
