New Products & Services Ford small car project on track
Fiesta variant: Mr Michael Boneham, President & Managing Director, Ford India, at the launch of the new Ford Fiesta in the capital on Thursday. - Ramesh Sharma Our Bureau New Delhi, June 19 Ford India on Thursday said that the work on its small car was well on track for its launch in early 2010. The company is considering both a petrol and diesel engine for the small car. “The work on our small car is on track. The car could be launched with both petrol and diesel engine,” said Mr Michael Boneham, President and Managing Director, Ford India, at the launch of Ford Fiesta with a 1.6 litre engine. Declining to comment on any further details, he said that it would be a brand new car suitable for Indian conditions. The company launched variants of its mid-size sedan Fiesta with a 1.6 litre petrol priced from Rs 6.2 lakh up to Rs 7.15 lakh. The company is looking at the option of introducing alternative fuel models in India. When asked if the company had decided on which models it would equip with CNG-LPG fuel, he said it would talk about it at the right time.
