Airlines Domestic air passenger traffic up New Delhi, June 20 The domestic scheduled airlines carried 41.16 lakh passengers during May this year thereby registering a growth of 6.7 per cent as compared to the same period in the previous year. In May this year, Jet Airways carried the maximum number of passengers at 8.45 lakhs. The airlines total domestic passenger carriage will touch almost 12 lakh if the 3.5 lakh domestic passengers carried by its 100 per cent subsidiary, JetLite is included. The state owned Air India (domestic) car ried 6.10 lakh passengers, Kingfisher Airlines (5.92 lakh), Deccan (5.76 lakh), IndiGo (4.82 lakh), SpiceJet (4.44 lakh), GoAir (1.61 lakh) and Paramount (47,000). The growth in domestic passenger traffic is higher at 9 per cent if a comparison is made between January-May this year and the same period in the previous year. The DGCA figures show that domestic airlines carriage touched 1.92 crore passengers during January-May this year up from 1.76 crore recorded during the same period in the previous year. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Airlines
