Our Bureau Hyderabad, June 21 Wipro is planning to foray into ‘green consulting services’, through one of its arms. Wipro Engineering and Infrastructure, part of Wipro, is now in the process of building a team which would lead this initiative of providing consultancy services in the area of ecologically sustainable enterprises, according to Mr Sudarshan SA, Vice-President, Wipro Eco Energy, a division of Wipro Ltd. The company believes that there is huge potential to take all its expertise to customers by playing a pro-active role in energy conservation and building green structures, he said. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday at the Wipro Manikonda SEZ campus, Mr Sudarshan said that after the company’s launch of Eco Eye, a corporation-wide initiative to bring about ecologically sustainable practices that would encompass 90,000 plus Wipro employees located across 55 countries and their families, it is time to help its clients in this process. Focus on spaceFrom developing green buildings conforming to the Leed certification, as in the case of Gurgaon and Kochi, to five other facilities coming up, the focus is on conserving energy, water and other natural resources and also using alternative sources of energy such as biomass to meet company requirements. The Vice President and Centre Head of Wipro Technologies, Mr B. Krishnamurthy, said the focus is not just on making green initiatives and energy conservation a part of life but also influence stakeholders and communities to move towards ecological sustainability. Mr B. Krishnamurthy said Wipro employs 9,500 resources in four locations in Hyderabad and is set to add another facility in the existing SEZ near Hyderabad, along with another SEZ campus coming up at Gopannapally.
