Strategy Juice to salons, Madura plans it all for luxury apparel store The store will also offer services such as a salon, juice bars, made-to-measure tailoring, and dry cleaning. Swetha Kannan Anjali Prayag Bangalore, June 23 Grab some juice at the juice bar, as you wait for your clothes from the dry cleaners. Or head to the salon, if you are tired of shopping. All this and more – for men, promises Madura Garments, the apparel retail division of the Aditya Birla Group. The apparel retailer is soon to open a luxury lifestyle destination store for men on Bangalore’s high fashion avenue Vittal Mallya Road. This super-premium concept store looks to “connect with men” by providing products catering to their lifestyle needs — from apparel (formal wear, sportswear, jeans, wedding apparel and so on) to accessories; it will also offer services such as a salon, juice bars, made-to-measure tailoring, and dry cleaning. Says Mr Vikram Rao, Business Head - Textiles & Apparel Business, The Aditya Birla Group, “This luxury lifestyle store will be similar to a Barneys in New York and a Harvey Nichols in the UK. It will stock multiple global brands in the luxury and super-premium categories, as well our private label collections. We are still working out the details.” While the first store, spanning an area of 17,000-19,000 sq. feet, will come up in October in Bangalore, the company is looking to open 10-12 stores in over three to four years, at an investment of Rs 270 crore, in cities such as Mumbai and Delhi. “We are looking to open at least three stores between October and April next year,” said Mr Rao. On whether Madura Garments will stop with men alone, Mr Rao said the company is “examining the potential” for similar stores for women as well. More Stories on : Strategy | Readymade Garments
