Human Resources Government - Politics States - Andhra Pradesh AP asks IT cos to make space for minorities Our Bureau Hyderabad, June 23 The Andhra Pradesh Government has asked IT companies to provide enough space for candidates from scheduled castes, tribes and minorities. The State launched Special Training Programme under the Jawahar Knowledge Centre of the Institute for Electronic Governance to equip candidates from these communities. The programme is aimed at making the SC, ST and minority students learn the skills required to get jobs in IT, IT-enabled services companies. Experts from 14 top IT companies take part in the programme. Addressing a gathering of students participating in the programme here on Saturday, Mr Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Minister for Coal, Energy and Minorities Welfare, he said the initiative had so far trained 100 graduates from minority engineering colleges. “We are spending Rs 40,000 on each student in this initiative. We will set up another programme centre at Urdu Bhavan in the Old City,” he said.
