Landmark Group’s fashion brand Splash to hit India in Sept

Anjali Prayag

Bangalore, June 24

The Dubai-based Landmark Group’s high-street fashion brand Splash will hit India in mid-September, with the first standalone store launch at Begumpet, Hyderabad.

Splash is a value brand offering apparel and accessories to men and women.

The Begumpet store is a test launch and based on its performance, Splash will revisit its India plans, Mr Raza Beig, CEO, Splash, told Business Line, though the current plan is to take Splash to 17 cities with 29 stores in the next five years.

Splash works on an import model where the collections are designed in Dubai and mass produced across the globe.

It is the single largest high-street fashion retailer in the GCC and Jordan area with 70 exclusive Splash stores covering retail space of over one million sq ft.

Expansion plans

Mr Beig said India and Egypt are part of Landmark’s expansion plans for Splash in 2008.

“We have plans to franchise into ten new markets through our franchise model, in the next five years,” he said. The company is also developing new formats to ensure maximum visibility and penetration into the market.

Commenting on the India launch, Mr Beig said, “The Indian consumer has matured, is aware of the variety of products available across market segments and is now poised to enjoy this retail boom. We feel that this is the right time to launch our offering here.”

The Landmark Group currently has 13 lifestyle stores, five home centres and two spa stores in the country.

It is planning to triple these numbers in the next three years. Globally, the Group operates 600 stores with a retail presence of over six million sq ft across West Asia, India, China and Spain.

The Group employs 17,500 people, including 3,000 in India.
