Automobile Components Marketing - Events States - Tamil Nadu Auto parts expo generates Rs 25 cr business Our Bureau Chennai, June 24 Business worth Rs 25 crore was generated at the eighth edition of the International Auto Components and Machine Tools Exhibition (ACMEE – 2008), organised by Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association here in Chennai, which ended on Monday. According to Mr Dilip Kumbhat, Chairman of the organising committee, the five-day expo witnessed more than 75,000 footfall, which is 25 per cent higher than that of last expo, and most visitors were businessmen and professionals in their trade, basically what the participants wanted. The buyer-seller meet, organised by the ACMEE committee during the five-day period, also turned out to be a success, said Mr Kumbhat. During the valedictory ceremony, some participants raised the issues of shortcomings at the Chennai Trade Centre, where the expo was held. Responding to this, Mr D. Rajendran, Chairman and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation, promised steps to improve facilities at the centre. Govt assistanceHe also said that the State Government would support and provide assistance to industry bodies in setting up educational and industrial training institutions for students under the skill development programme. “Skill development is the need of the hour, and we welcome proposals from industry bodies in every district to set up such training facilities to improve the availability of skilled workforce in the State,” he said.
