Economy MNCs bullish on Asia-Pacific growth plans: Survey Our Bureau Mumbai, June 24 A Jones Lang LaSalle survey released on Tuesday states that 83 per cent of multinational companies polled said they would increase or maintain current growth plans in Asia Pacific. Further, 28 per cent, responding to the gloomy global economic situation, were looking to accelerate the growth of their operations in the region. Jones Lang LaSalle, a global services firm specialising in real estate, surveyed 30 senior corporate real estate executives of leading multinational companies active in Asia Pacific. The survey indicated that India, China and Vietnam remained the top destinations for growth plans in the region in 2008. Jones Lang LaSalle’s CEO of Regional Business Lines and Corporate Solutions, Mr John Forrest, said the survey showed how business in Asia remained less affected by the sub-prime crisis. Sectors surveyedThree sectors were surveyed – Financial Services, Technology and Manufacturing/Consumer Goods. The Financial Services sector predicted the most aggressive growth in 2008, with 44 per cent having added more growth to their original plans in the first quarter of the year, and 33 per cent predicting further growth by the year end.
In the Manufacturing/Consumer Goods sector, a third looked to further expand their growth plans, a third to scale back and a third expected no change in current plans. In the Technology sector, the majority – 83 per cent – were ramping up or maintaining current growth plans in the region in 2008. More Stories on : Economy
