Fertilisers States - Tamil Nadu ‘No fertiliser shortage’ The State Agriculture Minister, Mr Veerapandi S. Arumugam, said that the Tamil Nadu Government had allocated an additional Rs 20 crore for import of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), taking the total allocation for the purchase of DAP this year to Rs 50 crore. The additional allotment is to ensure the supply of DAP whose distribution has drawn the attention of the Government. Denying that there is any shortage of the fertiliser in the State, Mr Arumugam told newsmen at the sidelines of the ‘Farmers Day’ celebration at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here, that the problem is only related to distribution of fertiliser. The distribution is handled in the State by the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Marketing Federation. He said the State Government had ordered the district administration to closely monitor the fertiliser supply situation to ensure that farmers are not denied supplies. In Coimbatore, the District Collector has initiated surprise checks to see whether fertiliser supplies reached the 26 cooperative societies. More Stories on : Fertilisers | Tamil Nadu
