Small rise in Sagar Cements Q4 net

Hyderabad, June 25 Sagar Cements Ltd’s (SCL) net profit increased marginally by one per cent to Rs 6 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2008 compared with Rs 5.9 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Net income from operations, however, grew by 13 per cent to Rs 76.9 crore (Rs 68.7 crore). The net profit was impacted due to supplies to the governments and self-consumption on cost-to-cost basis during the quarter.

For the year 2007-08, the Hyderabad-based company posted 12 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 31 crore on revenues of Rs 275.6 crore which registering 11 per cent growth over previous year, according to a release.

The increase in net profit was driven by higher realisations and increased efficiencies, Mr Srikant Reddy, Executive Director, Sagar Cements told Business Line.

During the year, SCL had almost completed the expansion of its capacity at Mattampally plant near Hyderabad.

The board of directors recommended dividend of 25 per cent for the year, it added.
