Our Bureau

Chennai, June 25 The Chennai-based Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd (CCCL) plans to set up an SEZ for food processing industries in Tuticorin.

According to Mr R. Sarabeswar, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, CCCL, the company has acquired over 360 acres land in Tuticorin to promote an SEZ for food processing industries. The company will start work once the approvals for the SEZ are in place. This project is implemented through CCCL Infrastructure, a subsidiary of CCCL, which sees infrastructure as an important area of business opportunity.

Common infrastructure such as irradiation facilities, testing laboratories and water and effluent treatment facilities would be provided for units which can take up land on long lease. It would target seafood processing units, fruits and vegetable processing projects and the entire range of projects under food processing.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr Sarabeswar said the company has bid for the airport expansion projects in Chennai and Kolkata each of a value of about Rs 1,500 crore. CCCL will focus on a range of infrastructure projects such as water treatment, power plants and flyovers.
