Commodity Markets Maize futures hit upper circuit Our Bureau Mumbai, June 26 Maize futures on NCDEX hit the upper circuit at Rs 973 a quintal on strong domestic and global demand. Turmeric closed up 2.27 per cent at Rs 4,427 a quintal on the back of fresh buying in the spot markets. Short covering pushed pepper futures high by 1.74 per cent at Rs 14,180 a quintal. Jeera rose 1.67 per cent at Rs 12,051 a quintal on good export demand. Castorseed improvesCastorseed improved by 1.46 per cent to Rs 578 a quintal on dwindling arrivals in Gujarat spot markets and delay in sowing in Andhra Pradesh due to less rains. Chilli futures registered a loss of 1.04 per cent at Rs 5,255 a quintal on heavy selling amidst increased arrival. While cardamom hit the upper circuit of 3 per cent at Rs 694 a kg, mentha oil fell 1.63 per cent to Rs 494 a kg. MCX registered a turnover of Rs 5,292 crore up to 5 pm, it was Rs 1,568 crore in NCDEX on Thursday. More Stories on : Commodity Markets
