Pune, June 29 DuPont Crop Protection has launched DuPont Velpar K4 60% WP, a broad-spectrum herbicide for protection of sugarcane crop that targets over 20 types of weeds for sugarcane.

According to the company, it controls grasses and broad leaves up to 75 to 90 days.

“For the last ten years there has been no product that serves the weed control needs of sugarcane growers. Now, the sugarcane will benefit immensely with this high performance product,” said Mr Ram K. Mudholkar, Business Director, Dupont Crop Protection. The new herbicide has been tested by sugarcane research institutes and can be applied both before and after appearance of weeds.

Widely used in Brazil, the US and Australia, it helps in effective utilisation of nutrients and water by the crop by keeping the fields clean of weeds for a longer period, thereby improving yield, the company says.
