Paramount links Chennai, Tiruchi

T. Murrali

Tiruchi, June 30 Paramount Airways today launched a new flight connecting Tiruchi to Chennai.

The flight was inaugurated by the Tamil Nadu Transport Minister, Mr K.N. Nehru, at Tiruchi airport.

Speaking to media, the Managing Director of Paramount Airways, Mr M. Thiagarajan, said Tiruchi is the ninth city to be connected with a morning service to Chennai.

“Soon we will launch evening service and the aircraft is ready.” However, there is shortage of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staff at Tiruchi airport.

Mr Nehru said the matter had already been taken up with the Union Ministers and would be sorted out within a week.

At present, there are eight to 11 flights a day and CISF works only one shift. Any additional service would call for second shift. Mr Thiagarajan, said the company would connect Pune from early August making its foray into the western region.

Kozhikode would be connected soon and an evening flight would be inducted in Thiruvananthapuram sector, he said.
