N.B. Singh is new CBDT chief

New Delhi, July 1

The Central Board of Direct Taxes has a new Chairman in Mr Narendra Bahadur Singh. Prior to his elevation, , Mr Singh, an officer of the 1971 batch of Indian Revenue Service, was Member (Personnel & Vigilance) in the CBDT. Mr Singh took charge as the CBDT Chairman on June 30, an official release said here today. He replaces Mr R.S. Mathoda, who had superannuated on Monday. The CBDT release said that Mr Singh had served in various capacities in the Income-Tax Department , including Chief Commissioner, Mumbai and Baroda and also as Commissioner in Mumbai and Kolhapur.
