Truck passing by a toll plaza near Kolkata on Wednesday. Truckers across the country stopped ferrying goods on Wednesday as part of an indefinite strike to push for abolition of toll tax and rationalisation of duty on diesel. The strike was called by the All-India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC). According to the Secretary of the Truck Owners Association of Bengal, an affiliated body of the AIMTC, about 1.5 lakhs of trucks registered in West Bengal participated in the strike. —
