Debt relief to farmers

Ahmedabad, July 3

State Bank of Indore has provided relief of Rs 345.48 crore to 1,08,598 farmers under the Union Government’s Agriculture Debt Relief and Debt Waiver Scheme, 2008. This was announced by Mr Pradeep Shanker, Managing Director, during a function in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh, according to a bank release here today. Stating that agriculture is lifeline of the Indian economy and welfare of farmers would boost development of the country, he said these farmers would n ow be eligible for getting fresh finance for their agriculture requirement. The bank has started lending for the kharif season. He also distributed certificates of the relief and fresh loans to farmers at a function also attended by self-help groups.
