Farm credit More banks finalise list of farm loan beneficiaries A. J. Vinayak Mangalore, July 3 The Pune-based Bank of Maharashtra has finalised the lists of around 1.38 lakh accounts that are eligible for the Government’s agriculture loan waiver programme. Mr Allen C.A. Pereira, Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Maharashtra, told Business Line that the bank branches have finalised the lists of beneficiaries that are checked by designated officials. The list has been displayed in 893 branches. He said that 1.38 lakh accounts are eligible for the loan waiver to the tune of Rs 327.05 crore. Of them, 91,000 accounts of small farmers are eligible for debt waiver to the tune of Rs 222.05 crore. Remaining 47,000 accounts under the ‘other farmers’ category are eligible for debt relief to the tune of Rs 105 crore. The consolidated claims are subject to suitable sample check by central statutory auditors so as to certify the correctness of the claims. CORPORATION BANKThe Mangalore-based Corporation Bank has finalised the list of beneficiarieseligible to waiver to the tune of Rs 164 crore. Speaking to Business Line, Mr B. Sambamurthy, Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, said: “The list is already being displayed at the branches from June 26.” The waiver will be to the tune of Rs 114 crore for small and marginal farmers and Rs 50 crore for other farmers. Farmers have been spread over 406 branches. Karnataka BankKarnataka Bank has finalized the list of around 12,570 accounts eligible for the farm loan waiver scheme. Mr Ananthakrishna, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, told Business Line that the total claim for these 12,570 accounts works out to Rs 41.46 crore. While 6,780 accounts of small and marginal farmers are eligible for loan waiver to the tune of Rs 19.61 crore, 5,790 accounts of other farmers are eligible to the tune of Rs 21.85 crore.
