Satyam Foundation launches Vizag chapter

Visakhapatnam, July 4

Satyam Foundation, the corporate social responsibility wing of Satyam Computers, opened its sixth chapter here on Friday in the city centre.

At a press meet on the occasion, Mr Naveen Yelloji, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Satyam Foundation, said the foundation was focussing on seven areas in urban areas: livelihood, welfare of street children, education, environment, empowerment of the disabled, HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, and general health.

He said, “In all these areas, we are working together with Government agencies as well as NGOs. Our programmes are meant to address the specific needs of a place. Our employees contribute as volunteers. In the Visakhapatnam chapter, out of 700 working in this centre, 100 have enrolled themselves as volunteers.”

He said the next chapter would be opened in Mumbai and efforts were on to establish foundation chapters in Australia, China, the UK and the US.

Dr Seshu V. Musunuri, the lead partner, Satyam Foundation, and Mr Ravi Eswarapu, lead consultant, also spoke. Mr N. Sanjay Kumar, the district collector, Mr. N. Sambasiva Rao, the Commissioner of Police, and Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena, the Commissioner of the Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation, participated in the function.
