Tiruchi Corp to get Rs 130 cr help

Tiruchi, July 4

Tiruchi Corporation will soon get an assistance of Rs 130 crore from the Government for blacktopping of roads, construction of drains and toilets in all the 60 wards in the city, the Transport Minister, Mr K.N. Nehru, has said. The corporation has approached the Government seeking the assistance for improving the amenities and it is likely to be first in the State to get the funds, Mr Nehru said speaking after distributing retirement benefits and certificates for meritorio us service to Corporation employees here on Thursday. Mr Nehru said that nearly Rs 1,000-crore worth for works have already been sanctioned by the Government for the city and these included major schemes such as the flood prevention scheme and the drinking water supply augmentation scheme. Mayor Sarubala R. Tondaiman, and others attended the function. –
