Danfoss to set up purchase office here

T. Murrali

Chennai, July 4 The Danish company, Danfoss, will shortly set up international purchase office in India.

The President (Refrigeration and A/C division) of Danfoss AS, Mr Kjeld Staerk, told Business Line that the company “is working intensively on sourcing components from India for some of its compressors”.

It has initiated the process to identify a sizeable number of vendors for sourcing components for worldwide operations of Danfoss. “A dedicated team will be set up to develop vendors to supply components to our standards. In addition to components we are interested in sourcing machine tools and other manufacturing equipment from India,” he said.

Danfoss sourced machine tools from Titan Industries, which were used in manufacturing several components for products manufactured by Danfoss, he added.

Danfoss Industries Pvt Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Danfoss Group of Denmark, has launched Turbocor, oil-free compressor targeting the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration industry. Mr Staerk said the new compressor is 33 per cent more energy efficient since it has only a handful of moving parts, against about 60-plus in the conventional ones. As it is oil-free and integrated with variable frequency drive, the size is significantly reduced.
