Srinivasan New Delhi, July 4 The Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has recommended an imposition of definitive anti-dumping duty on imported Cefrtiaxone Sodium Sterile from China, a pharmaceutical raw material that the domestic industry imports from the primary as well as intermediary stages. In its final findings recommended on July 2, the authority has imposed in fixed duty form on dumping margin basis ranging from $55.61 to $77.35 a kg. The Finance Ministry would take a couple of weeks to notify this duty. In its preliminary findings, the authority recommended provisional anti-dumping duty on the subject goods on November 7, 2007 — which was notified by the Customs on November 30, 2007. The provisional dumping duty ranged from $65.08 a kg to a maximum of $89.96 among nine categories of Cefrtiaxone Sodium Sterile from China. The domestic industry representing a commanding share in production, Aurobindo Pharma (Hyderabad) sought the anti-dumping duty which was backed by other domestic producers including Orchid Chemicals (Chennai), Lupin Lab (Madhya Pradesh), Nectar Life Science (Chandigarh) and Kopran Ltd (Mumbai). In its final findings the authority said that among the six exporters from China, none was given market economy status. Normal value has been constructed, taking into account international price of basic raw materials, including 7-ACA which is the main raw material. More Stories on : Anti-dumping | Pharmaceuticals
