Suzlon Foundation to upgrade 26 polytechnics in Gujarat

Our Bureau

Ahmedabad, July 6 As part of its corporate social responsibility, in its first major initiative in Gujarat, Suzlon Foundation will upgrade and reform all 26 Government-run polytechnics for their all-round modernisation, providing higher standards of education and grooming the youth for better job opportunities.

The foundation, set up in December 2007 by the Tanti family, has signed an MoU with the State in this regard. It would study the requirements of polytechnics for reforms and submit its report to the Government in September this year for its approval, Mr Manish Bhardwaj, Director, Technical Education, said here on Sunday.

A time-bound action plan would be chalked out for each polytechnic depending upon its specific requirements, and based on the 46 criteria set up for prioritisation of work to be taken up. The programme is expected to be completed in 18-24 months.
