B. Anatharaman to head SUN-Gumberg India

New Delhi, July 7 SUN-Gumberg India Advisors Pvt Ltd has announced the appointment of Mr B. Anantharaman as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of its India operations.

Mr Anantharaman, 53, joins the company most recently from Max India Ltd, where he was holding the position of Joint Managing Director at the time of quitting the company.

“We are extremely pleased that a seasoned executive with Ananth’s credentials will be leading our team,” Mr Gregg A. Searle, Executive Chairman of SUN-Gumberg, said. “He brings a wealth of experience, including expertise in complex financial deal structuring, debt and equity markets, real estate, construction and development as well as new business and international joint ventures.”

SUN-Gumberg is a joint venture between US-based J.J. Gumberg Co, the SUN Group and SUN Apollo India Real Estate Fund LLC. The company, which would invest approximately $6 billion in India over the next seven years, plans to develop, own and manage roughly 40 properties throughout the subcontinent. These developments will consist of Western Style regional malls as well as office complexes, service apartments and hotels. Mr Anantharaman will be based in New Delhi and assumed his new position on July 1, 2008.
