Tea 30-month high offerings at Coonoor tea auction P.S. Sundar Coonoor, July 9 An analysis of the catalogues of the brokers reveals that a huge volume of 15.40 lakh kg will be offered at Sale No: 28 at the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) auctions to be held tomorrow and Friday. This is the highest offer for a single sale in nearly thirty months. It is as much as 1.6 lakh kg more than the offer of last week. It is as much as 2.91 lakh kg more than the offer this time last year. Rise in productionThe volume is high because of a 33 per cent increase in the production in the Nilgiris in the first half, despite a 5.2 per cent decline in June. Fresh arrivals continue to be high. Of the 15.40 lakh kgs, fresh arrivals total 14.61 lakh kgs. The balance comprises teas remaining unsold in previous auctions. Of the 15.40 lakh kg on offer, as much as 11.03 lakh kg belong to the leaf grades and 4.37 lakh kg belong to the dust grades. Again, 14.40 lakh kg belong to CTC variety More Stories on : Tea
