Daikin to start production in 2009

New Delhi, July 9

The new facility of Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt Ltd (DAIPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries, in Neemrana, Rajasthan is expected to start production by 2009. Speaking at the ground breaking ceremony, Mr Toshiki Hayashi, Managing Director, DAIPL, said the Rs 160-crore facility, to be set up in an area of 1,60,000 sq meters will have a production capacity in the range of 20,000 VRV (variable refrigerant volume) units and 1,800 chiller units annually. Wit h the factory going on stream, Daikin India expects sales in excess of Rs 1,100 crore by 2010. “Our aim is to serve the Indian market with locally manufactured products. By reducing supply lead-time and meeting market needs in terms of product specifications, we propose to strengthen our competitiveness and leadership in the Indian AC market. Daikin has partnered with RIICO, which will provide land and other infrastructure for the initiative,” he added. Daikin India has witnessed CAGR of about 35 per cent in the last three years. The turnover in the last fiscal stood at Rs 400 crore.
