Deccan Cargo signs MoU for cargo hub at Nagpur

Our Correspondent

Madurai, July 11 Deccan Cargo, an air and ground distribution network conceived by Capt. Gopinath of Air Deccan, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd, to establish a cargo hub on a 48-acre site at Nagpur Airport, also known as B.R. Ambedkar Airport.

A joint steering committee will act as a facilitator in implementation of the objectives of the signed MoU to take appropriate decisions on this venture.

According to Capt. Gopinath, connectivity is an important phenomenon which is taking the world by storm and it applied no differently to India.

The initiative would provide connectivity in all forms to not only the metro cities but also the smaller cities.

The manufacturers in smaller cities and towns, farmers in villages and plantations in the hill stations are not able to get their produce to reach the consumption markets on time and in good shape.

Several problems

They faced several issues due to transportation delays, cumbersome paperwork, annoying middlemen, unreliable weather conditions and lack of connectivity.

The connectivity would provide them the opportunity to operate competitively and help make India a commercial powerhouse, a company press release said.
