Kolkata, July 11

A $2 million export order for supplying teas from North Bengal to Russia was signed here on Thursday, according to a press release issued by the Confederation of Indian Industry. The first consignment in July will be shipped by K B Tea Pvt Ltd and subsequently by North Bengal UFA Export Pvt Ltd. “With this, shipments of Darjeeling orthodox and CTC teas from Dooars and Terai regions of West Bengal will resume after about 10 years,” the press release points out. “This is the first successful initiative by CII North Bengal to promote teas of the region in Russia,” the press release adds. —
