KMA award presented to C.J. George

Kochi, July 13

The State Finance Minister, Dr Thomas Issac, on Sunday presented the Kerala Management Association’s Management Leadership Award 2008 to Mr C.J. George, Managing Director of Geojit Financial Services Ltd.

Dr Issac said on the occasion that Kerala was on the throes of an accelerated growth and that the need of the hour was to identify areas where the State has the potential for building up competitiveness. He said that the Government was also committed to invest heavily in infrastructure so as to help the accelerated growth of the State in potential areas such as IT, Tourism and Engineering.

Congratulating Mr George on winning the award, the Minister said that management was not just making money but it involves ethical practices. He called upon the entrepreneurs of Kerala to build up a culture of properly paying taxes.

For over two decades, KMA has been continuing the tradition of honouring excellence in management field. Over the years, the Management Leadership Award has become the most prestigious award of its kind in Kerala.

The endowment for the KMA Management Leadership Award is instituted by Federal Bank, FACT, OEN India Ltd, Travancore Cochin Chemicals Ltd and Kochi Refineries Ltd.

Those who offered felicitations on the occasion included Mr Justice C.N. Ramachandran Nair of the Kerala High Court and Mr P.C. Cyriac, Chairman of Cochin Stock Exchange Ltd. The KMA President, Mr P. Ravindranath, presided over the function.
