Health Government - Policy States - Andhra Pradesh AP Govt plans facelift for nursing sector Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 13 The Government of Andhra Pradesh plans a facelift for the nursing profession by changing the nomenclature from nurses to doctors’ assistants. Government officials will hold discussions in this regard with representatives of nurses’ association and other stakeholders, said the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at the inaugural session of a seminar on ‘Protection and Empowerment of Girl Child’ organised by the Chandramma Memorial Charitable Trust on Sunday. Referring to the drive against misuse of scanning centres for detection of female foetuses, Dr Reddy said that apart from Government officials, the services of non-governmental organisations would also be utilised. The State Government was implementing a host of measures such as scholarships and financial assistance for girls in education and other arenas, he added.
